    13.04 Nvidia breaks unity

I've posted once before but the issue has evolved into something almost entirely different.

I have an Asus G46V laptop running Ubuntu 13.04 with kernel 3.9. I manually installed the nvidia-current package because I'd like to make some use out of the gaming side of my gaming laptop. Every time I install it, however, it breaks unity. I've tried 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04 all with the same result. Somone from the last thread suggested I install the 3.9 kernel and it still doesn't fix it.

It has an nvidia GeFore GTX gpu.

    Thanks in advance!

You probably have Optimus/hybrid graphics, and installing proprietary Nvidia drivers breaks the Intel driver. Check lspci
    Code:
    lspci | grep VGA
If you have an Intel and nvidia GPU, remove the nvidia driver, reboot, and follow: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee
