    Wine 1.6 Released

    July 18, 2013

The Wine team is proud to announce that the stable release Wine 1.6 is now available.

This release represents 16 months of development effort and around 10,000 individual changes. The main highlights are the new Mac driver, the full support for window transparency, and the new Mono package for .NET applications support.

It also contains a lot of improvements across the board, as well as support for many new applications and games. See the release notes below for a summary of the major changes.

    Re: Wine 1.6 Released

I'm still a little hesitent to upgrade to this version, but I hope by better Resampler for DirectSound, that they mention in the Release Notes, means a new sound backend, or at least a more compatible one with modern distros. I'm at wits end with virtually all solutions to sound problems in WINE, because of PulseAudio, not working for me.

Either way, all those fixes and new features seem really nice. Always good to see a new stable release hitting the front page.
