Minecraft servers and predefined collections of software

Hello everyone, I am new to Linux and am probably getting in over my head, but will try this nonetheless.

    Little background:
I am attempting to set up a small, public Minecraft server and had been using Windows XP 32bit, but had problems with sluggish performance. I tried setting it up on Ubuntu (Regular, LTS version), but it ran even slower. Now I am trying to set it up via Ubuntu Server.

I am currently in the process of installing Ubuntu Server and I have come to the point where setup is asking what collections of predefined software I want installed. Given that this system will be a dedicated Minecraft server (A java-based application), what packages should I install? (And why?)
