Borderlands 2 performance

hi everyone, i am a big fan of this game but i have a problem. Before installing ubuntu 12.04 i could play this game (on Win7) with all graphics options on the highest settings and the nvidia physx very smothly, now i can play it but i cant go up medium settings without lagging.
why does it happens?
is there a way to fix it?

The performance on linux isnt as great as windows. Use latest kernel, drivers and update your system. The performance should be get better in time.
