flash stopped working ubuntu precise/firefox 18

I pulled a hard drive from a bit newer machine and put it in this one yesterday. I checked Jave and flash both were working fine. This morning - no video though nothing was changed between then and this morning. I'm really puzzled. I tried reinstalling flash through synaptic. No help there.

Firefox 18
AMD Athlon XP cpu

I'm not sure which version of adobe flash synaptic installs.

Any help would be appreciated.

i remember that i had the same issue some time ago: the main reason is that the flash installer set a wrong path, as explained somewhere on the adobe flash forum.

An Athlon XP? That cpu dosen't support flash version 11.2 which you likely was installed in the updates/reinstall. You will have to manually downgrade flash to 11.0 to get flash to work on that cpu.

Thank you for the replies. Now for the silly question - how do I go about the downgrade to 11.0 - can that be done through synaptic or command line or is there another method?

edited to add - I can't seem to find 11.0 for linux anywhere so far.
