brand new dell laptop with Ubuntu 12:04 factory pre-installed freezes

Greetings

I got my new laptop, Dell inspiron , and very occasionally the Laptop just freezes...just like that .. BOOM!!! No mouse or keyboard working no any other respond. The solution is to hard power down the Laptop

I am trying to figure out the reason as to why this is happening but i cant find any clues.

Are there any logs or messages that might indicate what caused the error?

The laptop is brand new and hass ubuntu 12.04 from its mom (factory) hence it should be working without any issues.

you might post inside the Dell subforum to get more & better help; give the real model and/or google around "ubuntu yourmodel"

Look in /var/log for log files, but hardware problems don't often get accurately logged because they happen so quickly. So don't be fooled by what you see in the log files. Sounds like possibly a bad battery or loose connection from shipping. Many times new laptops need a break-in period to work out the bugs. You might be looking at a warranty return at this point.
