    Powerful Configurable Email Program?

Using Ubuntu 12.04 with KDE desktop.
I have used Thunderbird and Firefox since they began but it might be time to change from Thunderbird.

All I want to do is be able to reply to emails in a different font/color than the writers font/color. Looking at Thunderbird support I can see this option has been asked for for years and has not been responded to. I like Thunderbird but they don't seem to respond to what their users request so I am looking for something else.

All I want to do is reply to emails in green and have the original message stay in black.

I know I can do this manually but it is very slow to do.
I like to mix my responses in with the original message so I have to highlight each line and change the color and font manually.

    Example.....

    >Dear Greg
    >
    >Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah
    >Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah
    >Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah

Well why didn't you says so? I just Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah

    >Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah
    >Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah
    >Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah

    Ok, see you later

    >Your pal

Can someone suggest and email program that will allow me to do this?

There's an option in Thunderbird (Preferences->Composition->General) to change text color. This does not work for you?

The same option is also available in the reply layout: A little rectangle of color on the bar just above the text.

I tried that and it seems to change the original sender's font/color when I change my font color.

I am using the second method now but it is slow and tedious

Hmm. I've noticed something very similar sometimes when my reply picks up the font-face and size of the original message.

There is not an abundance of mail clients out there. Sylpheed and Claws mail, and, of course, Evolution. Geary mail is new and still beta, I believe.

And KMail, of course. Altho I've never been able to get it to work.

    Good luck.

Couldn't get Evolution to work for me twice over.... Also , after 3 years last month got tired of Thunderbird n let it go... Itz own way.... I have had a chance to use Geary Mail in Elementary OS(which I was testing out for 2 months), but didn't use Geary, so have no clue...

But ur general idea about the coloration makes real sense man....

Good luck findin the right alternative....

Myself, am searching for the best Journal/Diary out there for Linux...

Miss OneNote, n I believe that itz one of a Kind....

I've been using Evolution for years, with few complaints. (There was one release of Ubuntu a couple years ago where Evolution was a little buggy, but I've not seen any of that for some time.)

I did switch to Thunderbird for a very short time, after Canonical made it the default. I missed the full-featured nature of Evolution, though.
    Jane, stop this crazy thing!

I used to also use Thunderbird, would never go back to it now though.
You should check out Sylpheed; lightweight, fast, highly customizable and powerful ... or you always have claws.

EDIT: In sylpheed and Claws you can edit the colors to what you wish. Standard text, reply, quotes, etc ...

    Trying Sylpheed now, thanks.

Can you tell me where to set the reply colors? (I'm not much of a programmer.)

    Thanks again
