Please suggest a decent PDF reader in 12.04!

I used to use Ubuntu 10.04. I can't remember which PDF editor I used.

I have now upgraded to 12.04. The built in PDF editor is OK. However, when I copy to Libre Writer, all formating is messed up. This did not happen in 10.04.

I tried the Foxit Editor and something called PDF Editor. Both didn't seem to work well.

I want to do two things. Either copy PDF text to Writer and have the formatting remain intact and / or extract a series of pages from the PDF and generate a new PDF file.

I don't think that this is an outrageously difficult requirement.

    Any ideas? Many thanks!

I'm not expert but formating is also related to pdf file itself, not just PDF reader. Anyway, "okular" seems to do the job in my case.

There is also usefull termianal based tool called pdftotext, but I don't know if you are interested in this.

Editing PDF is not worth it coz it was made not to be edited. The default PDF viewer works fine for me

If you don't care for Evince, you can install Adobe Reader from Synaptic.

Adobe Reader seems slow and clunky in comparison to Okular. Plus Okular lets you choose whether or not it should observe DRM restrictions in the document.

Thank you for the suggestions re: Okular. I see that you can copy multiple pages and copy them as images to Libre Writer. This is convenient. However, when you copy as text the formatting is totally lost. I'm sure that in 10.04 I could copy over from PDF to OpenOffice and maintain the formatting (e.g. paragraph styles, bold text). is this really no longer possible?
