ive been messin with a couple different distro's of linux over the last few weeks, i have been running them in virtualbox on my win 7 machine.
one thing i would like to be able to do is anonymise myself when i use a chat program i sometimes use, my ip address is available to several people once i connect and have even been pinged off line for a whole day by somebody with access to my address just because i upset somebody a while back..and then i had to change my router to get a new ip address... grrr
unfortunately this chat program will not run on linux, i have checked the wine database and there is not a stable version of it there..
so i need to run it from a windows environment, but i don't really wanna pay an additional annual or monthly fee for proxy services just to hide my ip address.
so now im thinking of making a partition on my hard drive and installing linux as the host and windows 7 as a guest..
i have heard its relatively easy to spoof your mac address from within linux, so my question is.. would spoofing my mac address change my actual ip address?
and would those settings extend to any virtualbox it was running?
