Window resizing challenge

You know when you slide the mouse cursor to the edge of the window so that you can grab the edge and resize the window, the mouse icon changes shape to indicate that if you click here, you can now drag to resize. How can I make that window edge resize area larger. It is like the tiniest pixel of space and it can be quite the challenge to get that perfect position in which the mouse icon changes to the resize icon.

And for the love of pete, please, someone make an application or addon feature (compiz maybe) that allows the user to set a window size and position. Maybe from the drop down menu bar, or with a quick key. So each time that applicaition is launched it launches in the same place and the same size each time.

For the grab area, use a window border theme with wider borders and the area will be larger. Just get a Metacity theme you like from gnome-look.org, for example.

What comes to Compiz plugin, that already exists ("Place windows" and "Window rules"-plugins), and there's also the "Unity MT Grab Handles"-plugin which gives you bigger handles for resizing windows when you press a keyboard shortcut...
