Programming languages

Hi

I'm a new user of ubuntu 13.04 and I would like to programm with some object oriented language similar to visual basic or C++. Are there laguagages which I can download in this environnement.

C++ is fine. You may need to install the compiler, named gcc. Alternatively, you can install an IDE if you prefer, which will pull in any dependencies

Gambas is a Visual Basic equivalent for Linux with IDE.

Is Gamba IDE also indicated for developping in Java and C++?

Nar Gambas is only used for programming in Basic.

For a Java IDE I'd recommend Netbeans and for C++ Eclipse, give them both a try and see which you prefer.

Eclipse will also do Java (it's actually a Java IDE by default, with plugins for other languages...)

Intellij is the best Java IDE (though netbeans is ok). Don't use eclipse unless some vile person from HR makes you .
