I've been using my old Hewlett-Packard flatbed scanner (HP-4300c) successfully with XSane (version 0.998) in Ubuntu 12.04, although I need to change the gamma, brightness and contrast each time I scan a group of files (due, I suspect, to aging light output in the thing).

I know pretty much how to set these values now, but it would be really handy if I could "save" these settings as a semi-permanent "fix."

I've stumbled around through the various setup options, but didn't locate anyplace where this was possible. I tried various google searches, but didn't find anything relevant there either.

Does anyone know if this is possible and, if so, how I might do that?
