Re: USB WiFi Adapter not working

Hi, copy and paste this command in the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) please:
    Code:
     wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script
It will download a script and create a file named wireless-info.tar.gz in your home folder with wireless information so we can see the condition of your wireless at this time, the Mac address, WPA key and WEP key are removed for your security, then reply back, click on the paper clip and attach the wireless-info.tar.gz file as a zip file.

If you do not have ethernet either then follow the directions at this link for running the script without internet.

Just in case you're not successful in installing driver script, here is another route to go - - get a compatible usb wireless adapter that's verified to be "plug and play" . . . no drivers needed.

Someone has answered your question on AskUbuntu. You need to download and install the driver from the manufacturer.

Not sure if you need a driver CD, I downloaded the zip file from the link in AskUbuntu, unzip it (there are 3 layers like a Russian doll, so just extract them one after another. ) inside the folder Linux there is a file called README_STA_usb which gives you the instructions

It says it is a RT2780, there are more detailed information here.

Hi, please do one line at a time:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential dkms
    wget media.cdn.ubuntu-de.org/forum/attachments/44/19/4365112-2011_0719_RT3070_RT3370_RT5370_RT5372_V2.5.0.3_prepared.tar.gz
    tar xvf 2011_0719_RT3070_RT3370_RT5370_RT5372_V2.5.0.3_prepared.tar.gz
    cd 2011_0719_RT3070_RT3370_RT5370_RT5372_V2.5.0.3_prepared
    make
    sudo make install
    sudo depmod -a
    sudo update-initramfs -u
    Thanks
