    13.04 lenovo y580 backlight not working

    I have upgraded to 13.04 on my lenovo y580 and all seems well except I can't get my backlight setting to work. The hotkeys are not working and when I open the backlight settings, there is no way to adjust it. After searching around, I have changed several parameters in the /etc/default/grub and nothing has worked. From reading around it seems as thought it may be a kernel issue??

    I have tried
    Code:
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=\'!Windows 2012\'"
    as well as
    Code:
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=\'!Windows 2012\'"
    to no avail.

    Was wondering if anyone else out there with the same laptop has expericend this issue. It's killing my battery life and I would love to fix it.

    I used that fact to help me install Ubuntu (13.04) on my Lenovo Y580 (for more details: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...2#post12710212).
