upload speed too low despite fast connection

i have migrated from windows server 2008 to ubuntu 12.04. i have a good connection. 10mbps upload and 10mbps download. i used to upload videos at youtube at speeds of around 1MB/sec form the win os. but on ubuntu i am not even getting 80KB/sec. i am not able to figure out the reason. i ran a speedtest and i verified that there is no problem with my internet. somehow the OS or browser is capping my speed. can someone please help me out with this.

Have you tried a different browser? maybe chromium or firefox?

Did you run speedtest from same OS & Browser you have issue with?

yes. its not just with youtube. i am getting low upload speed on mediafire too

OS is Ubuntu 12.04. i dont use win server 2008 anymore or atleast atm
