    Cursor Locked On Boot-Up

When boot-up process is complete the cursor is "locked". I have to unplug the mouse and plug it back-in. It then works correctly.

Initially this problem started with the upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10. It then went away following some 12.10 upgrades.
When 13.04 was first installed, the cursor "lock" problem did not occur. Now it has come back.

Any thoughts on how to fix?

So far the "solution" has been to use a usb/serial adapter and plug the mouse into the mouse port. That would seem to imply that Ubuntu must have a difficulty in recognizing a device attached to a USB port. I will wait a bit more before identifying this issue as being "solved"

Will not an optimal solution, since the problem remains unknown, I have marked the post solved since the serial/USB adapter plugged into the mouse port works.
