This happened at the same time, so they must be related. With 12.04, suspend was working fine until it stopped responding to keyboard input to wake up. The only way to activate the system is to press the restart button. I now get an error message after every boot up, concerning suspend failure. Upgrading to 12.10 didn't help.

I was dual-booting with XP, but I stopped doing that and reformatted the partition. The XP option is now gone from the grub menu, but that is academic because I can't input anything until the system loads. I hope I can fix it by re-installing 12.04 from cd, but if anyone can think of a fix to a system file, I'd appreciate it.
