Can I get the new Unity in 13.04 to work in/replace 12.04 Unity?

Hi, as the title says, I want to put the Unity in 13.04 into 12.04. That is because the Unity in 13.04 is faster, and I have tested 13.04 in my laptop. But I'm not that interested in 13.04 other functions that warrant me to use 13.04, and the Amazon intergration certainly lower down the value 0f 13.04 to me.

A side question is, will the next LTS release include Amazon intergration or will it not like 12.04.

You can turn Amazon integration off with a few clicks of your mouse. Hope this helps.

The only reason 12.04 doesn't have Amazon searching is because they hadn't developed it yet. I imagine the Amazon search will be in 14.04.

If you don't want it, turn it off. Its trivially easy to do.

I would like the later Unity in 12.04 also, actually.

Unity is not independent of the underlying desktop environment. Everything that seems to make Unity 7 fast comes from all the libraries that have been changed during the development of 13.04 over the past year. And Ubuntu 13.04 is but one stop along the way to Ubuntu 14.04, which will be as different from 12.04 as 12.04 was different from 10.04.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

In short, this means you can't? There's still 6 more months to go then before upgrading is a question again.

    You can't.

Would have been nice to be able to, or if it was backported to 12.04, but it's not going to happen. Unity 7 was built with libraries that are only in 13.04.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
