    13.04 and Skype?

I recently changed to Ubuntu 13.04 after all the troubles I had with Windows 8.
I use Skype a lot, but I noticed that Skype sold their soul to the devil and Linux has become more of an enemy to them.
So now I'm looking for an alternative solution to stay in touch with the world via videocall.

Yes, Skype is probably going away.

What you are looking for is SIP. There are a number of good SIP clients available. Ekiga, Jitsi, and Blink are the first three I can think of. Jitsi is probably the best right now. There is also Linphone and Twinkle, but I haven't tried them.

You will need a (free) SIP account and then you can call other people. The sound quality is much better than what I remember from Skype.

Thx for the quick reply Lars and I'm already giving Ekiga a try as it was easy to install from the softwarecentre.

    Google Hangout is another option.
