Lubuntu issues (2) black screen for disk encryption and mouse/keyboard issues

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop.

First off I have disk encryption enabled, and it boots to a black screen, i can successfully enter my encryption password and it boots, but i noticed only ONCE that there was a GUI for entering that password. Any way to get that fixed so I can see the GUI everytime?

Also when i boot up into Lubuntu, sometime my mouse touchpad and keyboard do not respond. I have to force shutdown and reboot usually 2-3 times until the mouse and keyboard start responding.

I have had these two issues with ubuntu, xubuntu, linux mint, and lubuntu. I am currently running lubuntu.
