but what would it take to add support for the Jpeg-XR file format to Nautilus and Image Viewer? Microsoft just recently released a optimized BSD licensed Jpeg-XR library.

It's not a widely used format by any means, but it is fully open for anyone to use freely and has a lot of nice features.

What would it take someone to implement something like this into Ubuntu?
