    12.04 drm error in kern.log

    Hello,
Recently, I often encountered randomly freeze in 12.04(updated, kernel is: 3.2.0-40-generic-pae). it seems that most freezes occurred when I was using Eclipse.
but I can not reproduce it.
the freeze is: mouse stop, any keys(Ctrl+Alt+F1/Del, NumLock, CapsLock etc) are not reponsible

in /var/log/kern.log , I found some drm error but not sure if they are related.

I tried check the hardware. for example,
run "sensors" command , and CPU temperature is ok(~30C), (most time, the freeze occured when CPU load is not hight)
    check memory, passed.
and run some games, e.g: torcs, Never freeze.

    can you give some help?
    Thanks in advance !

Similar error message and random freeze observed

Re: 12.04 drm error in kern.log

after installed the 3.3.6 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...3.3.6-precise/
this error is fixed and I believe the random freeze will not occur any more.
    Thanks and Cheers!

Re: 12.04 drm error in kern.log

so, has this freezing error been solved by installing 3.3.6 kernel after all?
Could anyone link some tutorial about how installing a kernel through the link above? (and not through synaptic)
is it also possible to do the install through synaptic?

Re: 12.04 drm error in kern.log

ok. so i wasn't able to find a way to install a kernel, so i downloaded and installed ubuntu studio 13.04, after 12.04 that i was running. the reason why i didn't want to do this was because of the short-period support that it has, but the machine was not working properly with 12.04. The problem is solved for me now. running uname -r I get 3.8.0-26-lowlatency, so it seems that I'm running under an even newer kernel
