lost keyboard and track pad on a dual boot Toshiba laptop, Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit

    First post...
Things were going well, Ubuntu runs beautifully on my Toshiba Satellite L775D AMD A6 3400M w/ 6GB of RAM. Every now and then on start up the keyboard would not work, now every start up I have no keyboard and no track pad. I have to plug external KB and Mouse which makes running Ubuntu on a laptop less than ideal. Please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks
    a noob...
