    How to get newest version

There are a few programs I use whose latest version is much newer than the actual version I get im my sources.list. For example ocrodjvu is now up to 0.7.14, but the one I get from quantal (or raring) is 0.7.9. Is there any way to get automatically the latest version without installing it by hand every time?

You could automate the download/configure/make/make-install process.

Or you could try to find or create a PPA for ocrodjvu, and then add that PPA to your repositories

ok, thanks. To make my own ppa, I just don't feel familiar/confident enough yet with making packages for Ubuntu...
