Is there any update for hardware, and NOT 'security'???

    Title says it all...

All updates are 'called' security updates, but is ever there a 'hardware update?

Hardware update is when you change or add some hardware like RAM, HDD, PCI card. Maybe you mean bios update or hardware driver update?

Bios updates belong to the computer and not to Ubuntu, so look for it at the mobo manufacturer's website.

Most hardware drivers come with the kernel, and you won't notice them unless they solve or cause a problem for you. Some hardware drivers, typically for graphics, wifi, printers are proprietary and are installed more or less manually.

Many of the updates are simply fixing bugs or adding features to the software. They are neither related to security nor hardware.

Improved support for newer hardware is provided through point releases of the LTS branch. For example, if you have the original 12.04 LTS installed, it's possible to upgrade to 12.04.2 with newer kernel and xorg.
Regular, non-lts releases only get security and bug fixes.
