Hi there,

I have a Lenovo Edge E520 notebook with a dual-boot of Ubuntu 12.10 and Windows 7. I'm kind of a beginner with Linux, but I'm getting the hang of it, and I'd really like to keep using Ubuntu as my main operating system, but I've been having a few issues with Ubuntu that are starting to make it unusable.

The first issue is with the WiFi. About every five-ten minutes, the connection to the network will drop, and pick up again a couple of seconds later. I've had this problem with Ubuntu from the beginning, and it does not appear in Windows 7.

The second problem is with the Intel HD 3000. A few weeks ago, after a software update was installed, I get these hang-ups for three to five seconds every minute or so, after which I get a "System program problem detected" message box concerning a file called /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py. Graphical glitches may also appear on screen after such freezing. I don't have the same problem in Windows 7.

If anybody has a solution to these problems, feel free to share!
