is there a way to read usb hd, that seems to be corrupt?

I GOt A Couple Of External Hds, And I Want ToAccesses TheFiles. I've Plugged them into Ubuntu and windows but both os's see the drive but can't read any of the files. They used to work, and I've tried on a couple of different of computers.

The drives seem to be dammaged. Is there any way to get in to them and extract the uncurrupt files.

I'm sure the whole hd cant be corrupt. There has to be a way to recover damaged hd's. How do I do it?

Try it with testdisk. It scans and repairs disk partitions.
