Why ubuntu has less screen space ?

    Hi,

i installed Filezilla and I use it in Windows also. But in Ubuntu the space on screen is so less. Though it shows that screen resolution is same as what Windows shows. But why Ubuntu has less space on the screen ?

    Thanks.

Probably due to unity, try starting a session on Openbox, it should be on synaptic.
You initialize a session with openbox, in the login screen by pressing the ubuntu icon or gnome icon.
There are plenty of other desktop enviorments, kde, xfce, lxde(one i use),mate, cinnamon, openbox, awesomewm etc

Or you can just set the Unity launcher to autohide in System Settings > Appearance > Behaviour.

Unity is one of the best screen-efficient DE out there. Try setting the launcher to autohide like suggested above.
