Can Skype call out using SIP to talk with users of Jitsi, Ekiga or Blink?
Hello there
The last time I looked at Skype it used its own proprietary standard and network.
I dont think there is an easy way to integrate it but I know they know have a skype connect product for business which works with SIP based PBX systems
(asterisks or openser I guess)
Cheers

You can tell a man who boozes by the company he chooses, as the pig got up and slowly walked away.
I seem to recall reading that Skype claimed to have added SIP capability. I suppose most people here have moved on and are no longer using Skype, but it would be useful to know anyway.
hi Lars reading around i found this
You can set Skype up with Skype Connect to work with SIP VoIP systems, but this is a paid service.

Ok. Thanks for that link. If it's a paid service it's not going to be easy for people to make a gradual transition off of Skype. It will necessitate running both Skype and SIP clients side by side during the transition. Adding a second application, like Jitsi for example, can be difficult where the IT support is obstinate.
Pay for SIP? That's absurd. Forget Skype, and just use a SIP program.
IT support obstinate? Well, if you pay me, I will not be obstinate. If you don't pay me, well, that's another matter.
Seriously, last I looked, Jitsi was very promising (although I had a small problem with it some years ago). I use Twinkle with no problems, i.e. no need for IT support.
