Re: 12.10 with dell 1350 mini pci b43 installed but keeps disconnecting

Hi, at this point, unloading and loading the driver
is not going to help. the problem is.. this
    Code:
     libtorrent/0.16 at 192.168.1.3:52572
    libtorrent/0.16 at 192.168.1.3:45275
    libtorrent/0.16 at 192.168.1.3:6881
    libtorrent/0.16 at 192.168.1.3:6881
It's probably not effecting your windows side
but that is where it came from. I googled
    libtorrent/0.16 at 192.168.1.3 and found a few
posts. seems to be all affected had VZ as an
isp.and of course calls to their helpdesk and
the mention of linux was met with the usual
its gotta be a linux problem. No post i found
had any resolution to the problem.I also have
vz fios, and when my computer is idle the connect
speed is very low, once a web page is requested,it
goes up to the usual 54. There is really not much else
i can do to help you out on this. I suspect your neice may
have been dowloading "music" or "shareing" files on the
windows side and aquired a possible virus or vz is blocking
and throtteling because of excessive bandwith use...I really
dont know for sure...just a possibility. sorry i have nothing
    left to offer.

Unhappy Re: 12.10 with dell 1350 mini pci b43 installed but keeps disconnecting

I have not given it to her yet,. I think she is getting disappointed. Does anyone know a version that the broadcom bcm4306 will just work on?
secondly I could just replace the mini9 PCI card. Does anyone know a card that will definitely WILL work with ,say, 11.10?

    TY!

Re: 12.10 with dell 1350 mini pci b43 installed but keeps disconnecting

Hi, I have had that same card and I had to change my settings to match the screenshots and it fixed the speed issue and disconnects.

I have also suggested these settings to many poeple and it usualy helps.
That driver usually works well and does not need parameters added.
Reboot after chaning the settings in network manager.
    Thanks

Re: 12.10 with dell 1350 mini pci b43 installed but keeps disconnecting

so far it seems like it's staying on but still keeps changing speeds from 6, 24, 36 or 48 mbps. Why wont it just stay at 54 like the one im using now right next to it?
just jumped up to 54 now.
    and back to 48.
Somehow i dont feel secure with it.
    Any ideas on this?
    thanks

EDIT: just disconnected (3 min and counting)
    Thank you nonetheless
Maybe it needs a mac or hardware address?

Hi, copy and paste this command in the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) please:
    Code:
    wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script
It will download a script and create a text file in your home folder with wireless information so we can see the condition of your wireless at this time and the Mac address, WPA key and WEP key are removed for your security, then reply back, click on the paper clip and attach the netinfo.txt file.
    Thanks
