I'm continually amazed at the volume and depth of geeks out there posting helpful articles and HowTo's for Ubuntu and linux in general. A problem I've been seeing is there are so many different thing posted on how to fix a specific problem and no traceability on which ones work, which are old, outdated etc. Most have the distribution they are addressing, but not all. I realize we may not be able to do anything about that, but I'm just acknowledging that is the way it is.
I recently had a tempting reply to a question I asked on ask Ubuntu where I got a response to try this HowTo. He or she is asking me to install his or her personal ppa. I really don't wish to do that but is there really any other choices? I'd like to see his/her solution in the Ubuntu Canonical umbrella, but haven't found it there yet. Any info or experience with this person or ppa?
