Please post your hardware specs. Is there any reason for not using the binary drivers that are in the repositories?

Sorry I'm having troubles with 12.10 64 bit ver. And troubles no desktop at start up ati hd5440 video an not how to get installed proper I was thinking on 12.10 32 bit ver instead
It's not a matter of a 64 bit install or a 32 bit install. In 12.04.2 or later you have to install the generic linux headers. I will try to update the wiki at the link given in a prior post sometime in the next two hours. When I'm done, I'll edit this post and let you know which section to look at for my recommendation.
EDIT:
OK. I've updated the wiki. My suggestion is to use section 2.1. Pay special attention to 2.1.4, which is critical for installation on 12.10.
Cheers!

A thing discovered and kept to oneself must be discovered time and again by others. A thing discovered and shared with others need be discovered only the once.
