    Preventing necrobumping

About once a week (and I focus on a rather small part of Ubuntuforums) I see an old thread revived, followed a couple of hours later by a post from $random_moderator warning about necro-bumping threads and closing the thread.

So, idle question: given that this forum is very likely maintained by the technical elite of forum admins, how come noone has ever written something to automatically close all threads without activity in the last X months?

I seem to recall this being discussed before (although I can't find the thread, so maybe on IRC), and the synopsis was "after the upgrade" - so obviously now, it's game. Although I'd be surprised if VBulletin didn't have this feature.

    Re: Preventing necrobumping

Auto-doing stuff has lead to problems in the past.

Also we don't close them all, most of them yes, but it is always preferable for a human ,or at the very least, $random_moderator to have a look first.
