    Compaq c60, can't enable wifi

i've got ubuntu 12.04 installed on a compaq c60. wireless connection doesn't work anymore, the wifi led is red which means that it is not enabled. i ve activated it in the bios setup. wireless connection is also disappeared in the network menu. I tried reading similar posts on this forum but apparently rfkill command doesn't work for me, it says nothing. I hope I can get some help, thank you very much and sorry for my bad english.nO

    You could try:

    killall nm-applet; nm-applet

Re: Compaq c60, can't enable wifi

Please delete the file in /etc/modprobe.d directory where you added "rfkill" as parameter for ath5k.
    Code:
    sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/<file name>
Then retry the modprobe command from my previous post.

If not sure, please post output of -
    Code:
    grep -iR rfkill /etc/modprobe.d/
    Varun
Help others by marking threads as [SOLVED], if they are. (See how)

Re: Compaq c60, can't enable wifi

Remove this file and create a new one:
    Code:
    sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/options
    echo "options ath5k nohwcrypt=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath5k.conf
    sudo modprobe -rfv ath5k
    sudo modprobe -v ath5k
This disables the hardware encryption of the driver.
