and yes .. I entered two messages because I have several different lightdm.logs created under different conditions. It might be important to note that during progressive upgrade process from the mir ppa there have since been different scenarios presenting themselves. ie; Mir_demos will work, mir_demos will not work, mir_demos will work with corrupt screens, blank screens and no terminal, plymouth will work, can get terminal but will not boot into lighdm .. etc

Please , take your time at your convenience.

What have You changed with that gedit command?
What command relate to which log?
What happens with each set of Mir commands? Take Your time, it seems that this is going to be a new run around the same circle...

Re: Anyone got MIR working in raring?

1.What have You changed with that gedit command?

Only 'type=mir' and then use gedit or nano to remove 'type=mir'. There is no problem there. I only made typo 'type-mir' once so that bug report will be ammended.

2.What command relate to which log?

The lightdm.log takes no command to make. I use gksu gedit to view those logs in /var/log/upstart/lightdm.log.#.gz as suggested here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1109957/comments/1

Currently with updated machine , all commands give me the following apport errors;..etc.. after running the code"

    Code:
    (sleep 3; _dem-_name_here) & mir ; kill $!

You must be the favourite customer to the guys at the other side of that apport line...

Umm.. simply after the recent upgrades the demos will not work. Also 'type=mir' will not work.

So does this mean that Mir will basically be unusable for current desktops up unto and after Oct. 2013 or is this information wrong or outdated.?

    Thanks ,

Not sure where the wikipedia article is getting it's source Best to follow along with the actual development from the team -- they're giving weekly updates:

That said, the stated goal is to have MIR power the phone and desktop in lieu of X or something else for the phone. As far as when it will be usable on desktops, I don't have a definitive timeline; and of course it depends on what you mean 'usable'. This is all leading up to 14.04 when we want to have the converged device story all good. So mir+unity next should be running everywhere.
