To my taste documentation is adequate for current state of Mir...

I thought that meant the 'Ubuntu Desktop DE', not just the Xterminal .. or at least lightdm.

As for being at the bleeding edge .. yes ... I like working on these newer modules. It will be interesting to see if it actually does become 'awesome'.!

As the original mir-doc stated, I assumed after editing the lighdm.conf file, then, sudo restart lightdm *or* sudo service lightdm restart that I would end up back in the Ubuntu Desktop. The mir-doc said "Ubuntu" but what part of Ubuntu are they talking about.?

'that' meaning that the writers of How to run Mir of PC meant Ubuntu Desktop.

Re: Anyone got MIR working in raring?

I can tell you this, editing lightdm.conf according to instructions and restarting lightdm by a reboot gets me to a black screen. A completely dead black screen not a tty. I now have to find a way of removing "type=mir" from lightdm.conf without being at a desktop. There are two other ways of running the command "sudo service lightdm restart" that I can think of. From a terminal on the desktop and from a tty. Both fail to get me back to a working Ubuntu.

And I also understand this in the Mir guide to mean a normal Ubuntu desktop with all applications.
In theory, you should now find yourself back in Ubuntu and not notice anything different.
This little experiment is turning into a good practice session for developing skills in fixing broken desktops.

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

booting in recovery mode might let you edit lightdm.conf (with nano), or chroot via ssh
