So, you have done sudo apt-get update.

Did you do sudo apt-get upgrade before entering sudo apt-get install quota quotatool?

    Enter
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update
and post any errors you get.

Use whatever OS or desktop works for you. Dual boot or use VMs if you want. Backup your computer regularly, and definitely before upgrading, partitioning, or installing an OS.

Re: Fail to Fetch (quota tool)

It may be an intermittent problem with the repo mirror server you are using. If you haven't already tried this, you could try switching mirror servers. Open "Update Manager", click the "Settings..." button, then select "Other..." from the "Download from menu", then click the "Select Best Server" button, let it run its tests, then click the "Choose Server" button. It will then ask you to reload.

Edit: I will be going to sleep in about 8 minutes. Someone else may have to help you after that.
