ok this one is driving me nuts.
When I copy the password from keepass, I can paste it into a text editor, but not a terminal window. I have to copy it from the text editor before I can paste it in the terminal window.

How do you copy and paste?
With ctrl+c and ctrl+v or
the quick linux way marking by high-lighting and pasting by clicking the middle button?
Try if the other method works for you
Yes, try sudodus's method; once you are used to it you'll find it so much speedier than other methods.
But if you want to use the keyboard you need Ctrl+Shift+C to copy and Ctrl+Shift+V to paste in terminal. It has to be that way as Ctrl+C is the keyboard shortcut for "cancel".
