    Arrow System Requirements

Good day everyone, is this ubuntu suitable for my laptop specs?

    Sony Vaio
AMD E2-1800 (1.70GHz) dual core processor
    Windows 8 64-bit
    Features: 11.6" LED backlit display, 4GB RAM, 750GB (5400rpm) HDD, AMD Radeon™ graphics, HDMI® out, USB 3.0

how about it special features? such as xLoud and everything?. will it be removed if i installed Linux?

The specs are OK. If the extra stuff uses windows-drivers you'll lose them in ubuntu.
    I'm thinking about it

best way to try it is to run live (put it on useb using linux live uSB or unetbootin) and see how it goes. windows features won't work. linux uses it's own drivers.

since you have windows 8 you might have problem botoing another OS unless you have secure boot disabled.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla

The specs are more than sufficient. Before you install, you should boot Ubuntu from a LiveCD to make sure that everything is working the way it should (wifi, etc). You can also do a dual-boot install and run Ubuntu and Windows side-by-side.

edit: mastablasta beat me to it. Here's some more information about the UEFI and Secure Boot thingy: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI

im planning to remove this win 8 on my netbook. i prefer to use Ubuntu alone. single boot only.
i really want to master or learn Linux programming
