ctrl + c = escape character.

So in terminal the shortcut for cutting and plasting wasnt ctrl + c and ctrl + v.

So i changed this. And dum dum dummmmmm now i cant send a escape character to terminate a process (for loop example) in a terminal.

I looked in the terminal settings to set the shortcut to something else but cannot find it. I also looked under keyboard but cannot find it.
Where can i set the escape character shortcut in ubuntu 12.04?

I don't know of way to do this. But what you have done is not standard. I suggest that you change copy and past in the terminal back to the defaults. ctrl+shift+c and ctrl+shift+v.

yes, terminal by default requires additional shift.
highlight/middleclick way of copypasting is more convenient either way, when i happen to use windows and don't have access to that, I often rage

Bahh that blows. Is the super + c and super + v hotkeys in use by the system somehow such as ctrl + c is?

It's been a while since I used Unity but if you hold down the super key you will get a list of the basic shortcuts. If super+c and super+v is not there and is not already taken by gnome-terminal then you could use those without any problems.
