    wifi and codecs

I have a HP Pavillion dv2000 with an AMD 64x2 processor. I experienced major issues with XP media center edition, and scrapped it. I installed Ubuntu 12.04.01 and now i cant see any wireless networks (which i imagine is a driver or some other compatibility issue) or play any other media that i had backed up. Is there somewhere i can download all the required codecs at the same time? Is there a special driver for the wireless card? Suggestions?

Check for drivers in your menu , you might need to hook up to someones Ethernet to get the driver...... once you get Internet install Ubuntu-restricted-extras for the codecs you might need.

Also check to be sure the wifi is turned on, you might have a switch if your on a laptop.
