One option is PDFedit. It's in the repo's. Screenshots and user doc's are at:

I have ubuntu 9.10 installed on my machine. Okular perfectly solved my problem
with highlighting and annotating pdf files. It's a wonderful software. It can open a wide
variety of filetypes, enen comic archives.

P.S: press F6 for the toolbar to highlight etc. to appear.

I just ran into the same problem, I eventually undid it by right clicking the highlighted region (while in highlighting mode) and selecting delete.

Re: How to highlight pdf ?

    Hi all

Thank you very much, Okular works perfectly for me as well!

The only issue I have is that I am used to highlight in orange colour and I would love to stick to that colour (maybe weird, I know... ).

I can change the colour of highlighted text by right click on it and choosing colour in properties window. But I cannot set the orange colour as predefined. If I highlight something new, it's highlighted in yellow once again... And, honestly, it would be pretty tedious to do right-click and change the colour manually everytime...

I would be grateful for your suggestions! Thanks!

Mendeley can also highlight pdfs but may be overkill if you are not managing a collection of academic papers.
