    Red face bitnami.run on ubuntu 12.04

    Hi,
    i just installed ubuntu 12.04 on my lap .also currently am Learning PHP so am trying to get bitnami.run to install but can't !!
    is there some help !!! ^_^

    hi
    i am having trouble in installing some program that has a .run file "bitnami.run .
    any advice ??

    Not sure what you mean by "trouble". If that .run file is in fact an installer, then the typical command to run it, at the directory prompt where the file is located, would be

    If bitnami.run is an install script, then it probably needs to be marked as executable. Scripts are not executable by default as a security precaution. It requires an active effort on your part to be able to run it.

    Code:

    sudo chmod +x bitnami.run
    ./bitnami.run
    
    or
    
    sudo ./bitnami.run
    I'm not sure if the bitnami stack installer requires root (sudo) privileges or not.

    Realize that PHP5 is part of the Ubuntu repositories, so unless you are trying to install something specific (and not in the repositories), you should first use the repositories:

    i did it namy time
    "sudo ./bitnami.run"
    and the file is installed on my desktop
    but it gave me
    "sudo: ./bitnami.run: command not found "

    ok look i open properties and marked on make it executable ,
    i did it before but i think the stack was corrupted so i del. and download another one and nw its working thanks
