What are your opinions? I'm new to linux in general, but I wonder if anyone can also shed some light on if Ubuntu mobile will be providing more privacy and security. Google's android seems to lack security and privacy in my opinion and it's been a concern of mine. Mainly tracking concerns.

Well with Firefox OS being 100% web based, every interaction with the OS will go through the browser.
this might make it slightly harder to write malware for it.
that said it might also be much easier to do things like MITM attacks.

If you are worried about being tracked then don't carry a mobile device with GPS capabilities. They know where you are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_navigation_device & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartphone
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

Firefox OS is not web based in the sense "everything is in a remote server", the idea behind Firefox OS is to treat JS an HTML5 as first class languages, to allow devs to write apps in those languages that have more or less the same access to the underlying resources as you would have with Java in Android for example.
