I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS, have done apt-get install gnome-session-fallback to get the old Gnome GUI that I know and love, and access the desktop remotely over VNC from a Windows laptop. One thing I miss on the system is being to copy text from an application on Windows (often a Unix command) and paste it into a shell terminal window. The paste menu item isn't even enabled, as if I hadn't copied the text. If I switch to a gedit window on my Ubuntu desktop, I can paste the text from Windows fine. Then I can copy it from gedit and paste it into the terminal but I would love to be able to do it without using gedit as an intermediary. I'm very surprised I can paste to gedit but not to the terminal.
