Subforums and disappearing threads

Hi!

I've noticed that in some subforums, threads are only displayed for a very short time. I'm not sure what happens to them, whether or not they are being archived, or if you merely cannot browse them any more. I think you still can search for them... I must say that I think that the current practice seems a little arbitrary. Here is an example:

- In the “Art & Design” subforum, (where there are a lot of relevant info) there are only 1,5 pages of threads. The oldest threads are merely 3 weeks old.
- In the “Community Cafe Games” subforum, you can browse 51 pages of threads, the oldest ones going back to 2007!

Is this a mistake or a deliberate policy?

Check what your "Default Thread Age Cut Off" setting is here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/profile.php?do=editoptions

You can also change how far back it goes at the bottom of a subforum under display options.

Well, then I've learned something new today... These were my settings:

I then headed to "Art and Design" and found out that the Display Options were set to show threads from the last month... When I had a quick look around the forum I found that some sub forums are set to show threads from the beginning, while other (such as Art and Design) only show threads from the last month... I've never changed any of these settings, so surely there must be a forum default for the individual sub forums?

I wasn't aware of these options and all, and I guess many of the members here are just as ignorant as myself!?

Seems that some forums have settings other than the beginning.

I've changed that one aas you know from IRC.
