    Strange lines on monitor

    any ideas on how to fix these lines off my monitor. running Xubuntu

    Sorry to tell you this, but I had much the same problems on two different monitors over the years, and in both cases, the monitors totally failed soon after.
    Ubuntu 20.04, Mint 19.10; MS Win10 Pro.

    ask a mate if you can borrow a monitor and see if the same thing happens on that one. That should tell you if it's specific to your machine or not.

    Is a good idea, particularly in light of Mark Phelp's input. If you can hang a different monitor on the machine, it will show you immediately if the problem is coming "out of the machine", or is specific to the monitor. Don't forget to include swapping out the cable in the fault finding process. A dud cable can do funny things too.

    If you don't have a mate who can lend you a monitor, perhaps there is a small computer shop somewhere near you who can do the test for you.

    Is the image a screenshot or a (very nice) photograph of your monitor? Because in the first case it's not your monitor going bad.
