Recently, my Ubuntu 12.04 installation quit automatically recognizing CDs when loaded in the player and displaying them as an icon on the desktop. When loading I do get a window that pops-up asking about storing data on Ubuntu One (which I would like to turn off) and another window asking if I would like to copy the disk (can't figure where this one came from either). But I don't get an icon. I don't get asked if I want to open the CD with anything. Also, if open, Rhythmbox does not "see" the CD if it is a music CD.

This just happened. Probably after a group of updates were installed. And for the latter I have rebooted.

I have no clue as to what the issue is as I don't know how Ubuntu recognizes when a CD is loaded. Something in the chain is broken but what?
