Kubuntu 12.10 not accepting my admin password

OK - I've been an Ubuntu user for years - I've now had it with all the Unity desktop crap so I'm moving to Kubuntu. Last nite I tried Mint KDE and had the same problem I'm having with Kubuntu.

I install the OS - I use my standard setup and password I always use for Linux admin accounts.

I can login to the admin account just fine - I go to run User Management or Muon Packager -- neither will accept my admin password ..... WTH ?

So here I am - logged into the admin account except none of the admin tools will accept my admin password.

So I go to the command line and use a sudo apt_get update command --- my admin password works fine

I tell you sine version 9 .04 this stuff has been going down hill

So even an old blind pig can find an acorn once and awhile --- or so I thought

I went to the CLI and change my admin account passwd the old fashioned way - then the admin tool in the admin account worked. But it gets better - so I do a restart --- now I cannot login -- tried two different keyboards. Wow - what a bunch of crap

Are you taking right back to the login after entering your password?
