Customized icons are different size to regular icons in home folder

Hi, I still using Ubuntu 10.04 standard install and have been trying to customize the home folder icons.
I right click on a folder then go properties then click the icon on the top left and selecting my customized icon, the problem is that no matter what level zoom is on, the customized icons always looks smaller than the rest of the icons.

To create the customized icons I use GIMP and edit the original icon from the .icons folder, without resizing them.

I am quite sure this used to work well but for some reason it just looks like this now...
